Park Street Park

Street is one of the most famous streets in Kolkata, India. Park street was named after Colonel J. Parkes who had built a house there at around 1820s. This is an important place to visit in Belur, as it’s the headquarters of Ramakrishna Math and Mission. You can also see a temple dedicated to Sri Ramakrishna here which was built by Swami Vivekananda. There are two temples within Belur math premises- one for Sarada Devi (wife of Sri Ramakrishna) where her Samadhi rests along with that of their son Narendranath or Naren Maharaj who later became Swami Vivekanandha . The second temple lies opposite this and is dedicated to Holy Mother Sri Sharada Devi. It consists of five small domes on top which represent each incarnation: Rama, Krishna, Buddha etc..
